  • Summary:

Inland Revenue is an essential part of the fabric of New Zealand. We collect most of the revenue that our government needs to fund and administer the significant social and economic policy programmes that provide support and care for the people of this country.

We want to be a world-class revenue organisation who make it simple, open and more certain for people to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements, and we have spent the last few years realigning all aspects of our organisation to enable this to happen. We have updated technology and introduced agile and multi-disciplinary teams who network together to create outcomes for the government and people. IR is delivering in an ever-increasing digital world, but it’s still for people.

The Enterprise Design & Integrity group is responsible for the services that provide advice, guidance and direction to ensure IR’s strategic intent is followed. Strategic Architecture is an enterprise function that ensures we are best placed to achieve our strategic intent over time through the design of services or solutions. We are accountable for:

  • Business Architecture
  • Technology Architecture
  • Security Architecture
  • End to end design
  • Product Ownership
  • Business & Process Analysis
  • Channel Management
  • Test Strategy & Management

This is very much a Business and Customer focused group. We are curious about how we can use technology in new and interesting ways to deliver the best possible outcome for our Customers. We are now seeking your interest in the Principal role within the Delivery Analysis Practice of the Business Architecture team. Reporting to the Domain Lead – Business Architecture, the Delivery Analysis practice is responsible for ensuring all changes across IR are delivered in a consistent manner and to a high level of quality.

In a world where changes are delivered across a number of different domains, it is not possible to have a single ‘delivery method’ that can be used consistently. Similarly, IR has recognised that to be truly customer focused, change across the organisation should be delivered as close to the customer as possible.

The focus of the Delivery Analysis Practice is to ensure all people involved in leading changes have the capability required to do so consistently and effectively. The Principal role will be focused on making sure changes are delivered to a consistent quality level, even where different methodologies are used. This will include:

  • Understanding the various delivery methods and approaches being utilised across IR
  • Ensuring reporting required is done consistently and in a user-friendly easy to understand manner
  • Working closely to guide and coach delivery leads to ensure they deliver optimal and consistent outcomes
  • Developing and maintaining delivery methods, tailoring traditional industry frameworks to the needs and style of IR
  • Managing the scale of delivery capability required across IR. For larger changes, professional Project/Programme Management expertise might be required and would be sourced externally
  • Maintaining relationships and networks with organisations and individuals that can deliver high quality large scale delivery expertise when required

As you provide advice, guidance and coaching on delivery analysis to the business leaders, you will need to have expertise in:

  • Delivering large and small changes and projects in complex organisations. You’ve done this yourself and know what is required
  • Establishing delivery teams to ensure the right mix of personalities and expertise are blended to form an effective team
  • Quality management frameworks and processes
  • Third party vendor contract management processes from establishment to ongoing management
  • Sound decision making
  • Executive level fact-based reporting on quality decisions, including coaching others how to do this
  • Problem solving across multiple domains
  • Leading through influence based on your expert knowledge
  • People and conflict management, with skills in negotiation of resource conflict and cross-team dependency

This is your opportunity to continue to innovate and challenge yourself within our organisation. Please apply online, attach a copy of your CV and a Cover Letter outlining how you meet the role requirements as outlined here and in the Role Description and the Strategic Architecture blueprint document. For copies of these documents and any queries, please email [email protected].
