    About our group and teams

    Our teams around the country work closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, expertise and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.

    We also directly provide Learning Support for around 40,000 children and young people.

    The Ministry’s highest priorities are to raise achievement for all. Participation in quality early learning is a priority. This role will give you the opportunity to work collaboratively with the sector, parents, families and whānau and communities to develop local solutions that will increase participation and improve quality early learning provision.

    About this role

    Education Advisors take a lead role in the licensing, certification of early childhood education (ECE) services. This requires excellent relationship management skills and an in depth knowledge of the early childhood education sector at a senior level.

    You will join a supportive and performance-driven team environment. If you can evidence your experience in the following areas, we would like to hear from you:

  • Experience in licensing and regulations, certification of early childhood education (ECE) services.
  • The confidence to work across a diverse range of services, centres and contexts.
  • Networks and experience working with Māori medium and Pacific ECE services.
  • Have experience in assessing information to make objective judgments against criteria and recommending courses of action.
  • Have the ability to analyse complex issues to produce clear and succinct written work with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Have experience in dealing with complex relationships, including influencing and negotiation skills.
  • A qualification in early learning is desirable.
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
