Do you have a passion for improving educational outcomes for all children and their families? Do you have a passion for improving educational achievement for Maori and Pacific, and diverse learners? Are you currently in the education sector and ready to take another career move? If you are enthusiastic and committed to building collaborative relationships and open to new ways to do things differently, we could have a role for you.

Now is an exciting time at the Ministry of Education. We are working differently with the sector and communities so that our education system can deliver the best outcomes for children and whanau.

We have a great opportunity for the right person to join our Canterbury Chatham Islands team at the Ministry of Education.

We will give you the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders, boards of trustees and Communities of Learning to achieve successful educational outcomes for all students, with a particular focus on realising the potential of Maori students and Pasifika students. You must be able to influence others with knowledge, skills and experience in improving student engagement and achievement.

You will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and experience and expertise in the following:

  • Building and sustaining successful relationships
  • Using your analytical and evaluative skills to work with data and information to solve complex problems and make decisions
  • An understanding of the barriers to engagement
  • Working with others to support and implement change initiatives
  • We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, including Maori, Pacific and those with disabilities, who will enrich our understanding of the education system.

As a government agency, the ministry is committed to keeping to the Treaty of Waitangi’s guiding principles in our work for and with Maori students, their whanau, hapu and iwi.

The successful candidate appointed permanently to the Canterbury Chatham Islands region will be based in the Christchurch Office. They will join a supportive and performance-driven team environment.
