What you will doYou will work with a small team of designers and developers, providing advice and guidance on instructional design and e-learning best practice, as well as reviewing content and providing storyboarding support to the team. This role will see you working with Army, Navy and Air Force learning focused areas, as well as forming a close working relationship across the Defence College in the production of syllabus documentation to aid you in designing and developing your own content. You will also have the opportunity to help shape the NZDF’s e-learning strategy.What does a typical day or week look like?Your weeks will be busy and you’ll be expected to organise and prioritise a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities. A typical week for the ELS will see you: Producing syllabus documentation; Working with and providing advice and guidance to various stakeholders and SMEs regarding instructional design and software; Creating storyboards; Reviewing content; and Producing some online development.Please note: This role can be based in either Palmerston North (Hokowhitu Campus) or Wellington (Trentham Miliatry Camp). Please indicate preference of location on your covering letter.As this role supports the e-learning function at NZDF sites throughout NZ the successful person would be required to travel nationally on a regular basis.What we needYou will bring a specific skill set to this role that includes:E-learning Design and Development expertise;Syllabus or curriculum design expertise;Involvement in the production and use of innovative, alternative, instructional methods and media;High level interpersonal skills;Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships;Willingness to travel throughout NZ on a regular basis is essential.To be successful and shortlisted for this role we are seeking someone with proven design skills related to instructional and educational aspects of technical training. We also require the candidate to have a relevant degree in learning (or equivalent) plus a minimum 4 years’ experience in a mix of tertiary adult education, e-learning design, learning theory educational evaluation and instructional product development.Who we areThe Training Technology team is responsible for the development of immersive, media-rich computer-based learning experiences for NZDF personnel. Its personnel work closely with Learning Solutions’ learning designers and subject matter experts throughout the NZDF to produce digital learning solutions such as instructional and interactive video, stand-alone digital artefacts to support face-to face-instruction, and full e-learning courses hosted on the learning management system.
