  • About New Zealand Blood Service

New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) has sole responsibility for collecting, processing and distributing blood and in New Zealand. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives through our blood, blood products and other services. At the end of the day, you know that you’ve contributed in some way to making a difference in someone’s life.

Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation’s culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. They inspire us, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.

    About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for Enrolled Nurses who are experienced in working in a team, following instructions and who get a thrill out of making a huge difference to the experience of our donors. Whether you’re collecting blood products or advising donors on health education at our mobile and donor rooms, you will play a key role in the work your team does. You will be working in a unique part of the health sector, where although you are not working as part of a DHB, you are still caring for people and making a huge difference to patient outcomes.

The hours will generally be worked Monday to Saturday, with some varying lengths of days so flexibility is required. Occasional statutory holiday duties may also be required.

    About you

As our donors regularly go out of their way to give up their time to donate blood, great customer service is key to ensuring they have an amazing donation experience that encourages their continued support.

We welcome enquiries from experienced Enrolled Nurses who will utilise their skills, knowledge and have experience in working with diverse teams.

A comprehensive induction programme, training and PDRP available. Please note that flexibility to work varying days and hours will be required.

    In addition, you will need:

  • A current NZ Practising Certificate as an Enrolled Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Relevant experience as an Enrolled Nurse
  • To be a great communicator with good written and verbal skills, which is vital for reassuring the donor every step of the way
  • If this role sounds like you and you are self-motivated, get the best out of people and able to communicate on all levels, then we would like to hear from you.
