When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you’re part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.
The Team: What we do
The Diabetes and Endocrinology service is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our nursing team in the new Out Patients building, working closely with patients who attend the Diabetes, Endocrine, Thyroid and Metabolic Bone Physicians clinics. This position requires the right person to help develop and deliver an efficient patient centric experience.
This exciting and challenging role will capitalise on your passion for people from a variety of circumstances, providing support to patients who are attending often with sensitive and complex medical conditions. You will enjoy learning from an established Senior Medical team, experienced diabetes and Endocrine Nursing team, gaining specialist knowledge, professional development and contributing positively to enhancing our Diabetes and Endocrine model of care. You will be working in an outpatient setting, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with specialist health providers and contributing to achieving the best health outcomes for our patients.
The Role: Where you fit in
You will provide a pre-clinic patient assessment check to all patients arriving for various Endocrinology and Diabetes clinics, operating alongside other specialist clinics from a shared nursing hub. You will be responsible for ensuring clinical spaces, and rooms are well prepared / equipped for physician use, and gain point of care monitoring tools and knowledge. You will require great people skills, being welcoming and engaging with patients attending clinics and connecting closely with aligned colleagues such as administration and nursing teams. Previous experience in an outpatient setting is desirable but not essential as a detailed orientation and preceptorship period will be provided.
We are looking for a self-motivated, confident and enthusiastic Enrolled Nurse who is practical, enjoys a challenge and applies health improvement models to practice. You will have a high level of organisational skills and apply attention to detail.
