What you will do

The Equipment Manager Biomedical proactively leads, shapes and influences the delivery of responsive, cost effective, through-life management and logistics support for medical equipment fleets (including related commodities, consumables) to enable the NZDF to meet its strategic and operational objectives. 

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • Through-life management of a diverse range of specialised medical equipment across all three services (Navy, Army, Airforce);
  • Maintaining equipment documentation and analysing market trends;
  • Forecasting equipment obsolescence;
  • Facilitating equipment withdrawal from service and disposal; and
  • Identifying and integrating external compliance requirements for equipment.
  • What we need

    To be successful in this role you will be an experienced people leader, and have an understanding of military logistics, health equipment and associated technologies.

    You will ideally have a background and subject matter expertise within health logistics, as well as knowledge and understanding of Integrated Logistics Support, Supply Chain Management and Inventory Management. You will bring a strong understanding of asset or equipment management principles, support and maintenance systems, and data-informed decision making.

    You will also bring:

  • The ability to think strategically, with strong analytical skills;
  • A good understanding of equipment procurement;
  • Project management and planning experience; and
  • A working knowledge of Health legislation and regulations.
  • Your skills in leadership and staff management, problem solving, planning, risk management, relationship management and prioritisation will be crucial to your success in this role, as well as a high level of attention to detail, and experience in the use of a corporate ERP system (such as SAP).

    You will have strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical language and complex information into effective communications, and be able to produce and interpret both technical and non-technical documentation.

    The Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) is responsible for providing proactive, responsive and effective strategic in-service equipment fleet management and full life-cycle integrated logistics support (ILS) advice to support the delivery of the NZDF’s outputs. Our focus is on equipment and related commodities and consumables, and ensuring they are available at the right time and standard to enable to Army, Air Force and Navy to achieve the right effect.
