The National Party Leader’s Office has a fantastic opportunity for a talented events manager to work at the highest levels of our parliamentary team. This is a chance for an ambitious professional to be part of an exciting, fast-paced team and a high-performing political office.

The events manager is responsible for the coordination and organisation of events, commitments and electorate visits for the leader of the opposition outside of Parliament.

The successful applicant will support the National Leader and National Leaders Office by planning coordinating events, commitments and electorate visits for the Leader of the Opposition outside of Parliament. You will be part of a team that respond to daily requests for the Leader’s time and attendance at events, so you need to be highly organised, have an eye for detail and work to the highest standard.

This is a busy, full-time role, so the ability to prioritise competing demands and work collaboratively are essential. Some flexibility in hours will be required and the role will involve some domestic travel.

Essential knowledge and skills for the role:

  • Proven experience in event planning or event coordination in a political or corporate environment
  • Political acumen and a good understanding of the New Zealand parliamentary environment
  • The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and managing competing demands for your time
  • Self-motivated with a good attitude and willingness to work hard in a challenging but stimulating environment
