Bring your knowledge and expertise to assist our General Manager of Facilities and Property as we work through the initial design and development phase of the New Dunedin Hospital programme of work whilst maintaining and improving our assets district-wide.

About the opportunity

Due to the additional workload of the team, including the New Dunedin Hospital rebuild, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced facilities management professional to join us for a two year fixed-term contract. You will be providing support to the General Manager of Facilities and Property as we navigate the initial design and development stage of the rebuild project ensuring continuous management of both asset and facilities deliveries as well as the existing facilities in our Otago sites.

Some key areas of focus for the role will include the following:

  • Liaise with and provide expert advice, analysis, and support to the General Manager Facilities and Property
  • Develop and sustain a positive team culture where all team members are supported, empowered and actively model exceptional customer service, health and safety practices, asset management and the values of the organisation
  • Provide support to strategic projects and high-level documentation such as Business Cases, quotes and supporting documentation
  • Manage and monitor quotes as required from departments for future Capital expenditure
  • To provide clear, concise information and instruction to the organisation on facilities related Capital items, provide budget estimates for maintenance projects, and assist the General manager Facilities and Property with technical support within the Capital portfolio as required
  • Support the Facilities Managers in ensuring the safety and integrity of all Facilities services and systems, essential services, building structure and risk management
  • Support and oversee the day to day operations of contractors, ensuring that there is proper implementation of systems and processes to support the successful delivery and where possible implementing service improvements to the tasks in hand

About you

As this is a brand new position we are looking for someone with a positive, pro-active approach who can make the role their own and build trusted partnerships with a range of both internal and external stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate will bring the following:

  • NZ Certificate of Engineering in electrical or mechanical plus Site Safe qualification or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in facilities management and/or asset management
  • Experience in allocation and management of budgets
  • Expert knowledge of the business processes required to provide facilities management, i.e. asset management, mechanical, electrical, works, fire protection and energy management
  • Extensive knowledge of facilities management and building infrastructure associated processes, relevant standards, and legislation e.g. Building Code, Electrical Standards
  • Proactive, and service-orientated approach
  • Well-developed relationship management skills and the ability to negotiate effectively
