Southland Hospital, Invercargill
About the opportunity
Family Consumers have a key role in the future of Mental Health Services. Here at Southern DHB we want to ensure our families are heard, so we can continue to review and develop the Mental Health Services offered in Southland. To help us do this our Family Consumer Advisor aims to develop and co-ordinate effective links and networks with relevant family consumers, community groups and organisations. We now have a vacancy for a permanent Family Consumer Advisor to join our team.
You’ll strive to develop a strong and active family consumer voice in the district and support the ongoing development of a family Consumer Advisory Group in Southland. You’ll provide feedback to the mental health provider arm management team and clinicians and actively encourage and involve family consumers in planning groups and projects in the provider arm. You’ll also support Southern DHB and the community to become more aware of the issues facing Mental Health family consumers.
To be considered for this position you’ll need to be a confident communicator with strong verbal and written skills. You’ll have an ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people and be able to prioritise and organise your work. You will need to be able to cope under pressure and remain calm in difficult situations while having the drive and commitment to make a difference.
