What will you do?

Our Family Violence Response Specialist is responsible for assessing family harm in conjunction with interagency partners, and the New Zealand Police. You will be instrumental in planning and implementing interventions that contribute to the safety and well-being of families.

This role will include (but is not limited to:

  • Reviewing Police, Corrections, and agency referrals to determine the nature of Oranga Tamariki involvement
  • Analysing and prescribing Oranga Tamariki intervention options
  • Participating in daily, interagency Safety Assessment meetings
  • Collaborating on Intensive Case Management planning for families at high risk of harm from family violence, and for cases of high complexity
  • Researching and disseminating information across the organisation regarding family violence and suicide prevention best practices
  • Act as an expert and consultant for sites in relation to family violence and suicide matters
 
What will you bring?

A social work qualification recognised by the New Zealand SWRB or full registration with SWRB and ability to obtain an APC

  • Understanding of Oranga Tamariki processes and responses
  • Sound knowledge of Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014 and other relevant legislation
  • Experience working with tamariki and whānau as well as proven successful experience in working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, in particular Maori and Pacific cultures
  • Familiarity with family violence pathways
  • Knowledge of the theories of family violence and interventions, and associated concepts/constructs
  • An understanding of Non-Government sector (NGO) and the public sector context within which OT works
  • A full, clean and valid New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of care and protection social work is required
