The System and Organisational Performance group helps shape and support the delivery of HUD’s purpose and strategic direction. The group includes functions that ensure HUD is delivering on our cross-system leadership role (connecting across the sector and delivering on our purpose and outcomes), help build and support our organisation through supporting and enabling our people, and that support effective communications and engagement with the public and our stakeholders.
About the role | Mō te tūnga
The Finance Business Partner, in conjunction with our management accountants, oversees the Ministry’s baseline funding and operating costs. In this role you will be responsible for leading the budgeting and forecasting cycle. You will also report on insightful information to influence financial and operational decision making across the organisation.
The Finance Business Partner plays a key role across the business. Working alongside business units and project teams, you will provide information, metrics, and analysis, and educate the business on financial matters to inform better business and investment decision making.
Key to your success in this role will be your inclusive approach to relationship building across the business, coupled with your openness to take on new ideas, ways of working and be comfortable operating with ambiguity as the organisation evolves over the coming years.
Although there is no formal staff responsibility, you will work closely with management accountants and support their professional development, with a specific focus on building their capacity to effectively engage and influence at senior leadership level.

You will take an evidenced based approach to your decision making and be comfortable working at all levels. A confident, resilient, and clear communicator, you will gain trust from your peers and senior leaders alike and be comfortable standing your ground on advice you provide.
You will also provide a sound and well-developed sense of ethics to champion the kaitiakitanga (stewardship) of the housing and urban development system of Aotearoa.
