What you will do

Our Financial Advisors provide a high level of financial and business advice to internal NZDF customers both military and civilian. Financial Advisors are responsible for supporting their customers with financial planning; budgeting and forecasting; monitoring and reporting; and providing financial management advice on policies and procedures.
Financial Advisors work with a high degree of autonomy, and represent the Finance function with maturity and credibility. Therefore, we are seeking someone who is both technically sound and has the ability to interact effectively across a range of key stakeholders.
We don’t envisage the successful candidate starting in this role until early next year, so start the new year off with a new challenge!
What we need

To be successful in this role, the key skills and attributes that we are looking for are: 

  • Excellent and effective interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • An understanding and knowledge of management accounting and financial management principles and practices;
  • A graduate tertiary qualification in Accounting and either qualified or working towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification;
  • Practical experience of 3-5 years in a finance or accounting role in a professional services organisation;
  • Experience with ERP packages such as SAP or Oracle, and experience with a reporting or budgeting tool such as TM1 is desirable.

Financial Advisory are part of the Service Delivery team within NZDF Finance. The Finance Service Delivery team provide financial advice and business decision support to key internal customers with financial governance responsibilities.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for.  The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Higher level Security Clearance 

  • Most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last ten (10) years, OR 
  • Is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one of more of the following countries for the last ten (10) years; either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

 If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
