The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is one of Wellington’s most well-known Hotels. An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Front Office Team. We are looking for a customer service focused individual to take on the full time role of Guest Services Agent. The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor has 269 guest rooms and provides a 4.5 star experience to our Corporate, Government and Leisure guests. As a Guest Service Agent the successful candidate will: Offer a warm and friendly greeting to guests as they enter and depart the Hotel Check guests in and out with efficiency and attention to detail Update guest information in the hotel computer system Balance financial transactions at the end of each shift Attend to guests requests in a prompt and professional manner Be fully conversant with regard to all information on the area as a destination, the services available at and through the hotel, any special events taking place in the area The successful candidate will have: The desire to always put the customers’ needs above all else Excellent oral and written communication skills Be highly organised and efficient Excellence in defusing potential conflict and dealing with guest problems in a professional manner A passion for the hospitality industry and a desire to see our hotel succeed in all areas of operations Exceptional grooming standards are essential as you are the face of the hotel A good knowledge of the Wellington region is advantageous as you will be providing directions and recommendations to guests on services and attractions in the Wellington region Previous concierge or reception experience in a 4-5 star hotel is advantageous, however full training will be provided. This is a rostered position so the successful candidate will need to be available to work any given day of the week, Monday to Sunday, for AM or PM shifts predominantly between the hours of 7.00am and 11.00pm Shifts and rostered days off will vary due to operational requirements.
