Who we are:
Insights MSD is a group within Strategy & Insights with specific responsibility to develop and operate data and analytics capability, generate actionable insights, and provide tools to support decision making. The group’s focus is supporting people to make better decisions to improve New Zealanders’ lives, by making better use of data, information, and evidence.
The Research & Evaluation Group provides actionable evidence to influence, inform and shape policy development and service design and delivery through research, evaluation and monitoring of MSD programmes to achieve MSD’s outcomes.
You will lead a multidisciplinary Group of over 30 motivated staff and be responsible for a significant budget and portfolio of work. You will drive a strong culture of client focus and collaboration; creating actionable insights; and being proactive and prioritised within the team and wider Insights MSD. You will balance the need for immediate results and developing a broader knowledge base to aide decision making.
You will also play a key role in contributing to the collective leadership of Insights MSD. You will have an oversight and understanding of each Unit’s work programme and how your team fits into it, positioning Insights MSD to deliver greater value, and leading change.
What we are looking for
You will have proven experience in research, evaluation, and/or policy development. You are an adaptive leader that easily builds relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and can explain complex topics in simple terms. You are collaborative and passionate about people and will invest in growing and developing the Group.

Salary Range: $166,001.00 – $249,001.00
