General Medicine Physician
We are looking for a general medicine physician, with or without subspecialty interest or qualification, who wishes to work in a young and dynamic department of predominantly New Zealand trained physicians.
We practice undifferentiated internal medicine here in Southland with a 38 bed medical ward and 6 bed critical care unit, covering the Southland, Queenstown and Te Anau regions. Sub-speciality support is provided predominantly by Dunedin Hospital. You would join a team of 7 physicians sharing equally in the acute roster, providing both inpatient and outpatient services. There is ample opportunity to participate in our departmental teaching programme which amounts to 4 hours each week, and we have close links with the University of Otago as witnessed by the number of students that train here. For physicians who are dual trained there is opportunity to accommodate ongoing sub-speciality practice.
Invercargill? Situated at the base of the South Island of New Zealand, the people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality, there is space in abundance and you are surrounded by national parks. Weekends away can involve the city life of Dunedin, the wilderness of the Catlins or the all year playground that is Queenstown. We take great pride in our sense of community down south, and you will see this in the tight knit family feel amongst staff at Southland Hospital.
We offer an attractive annual salary package based on skills and experience ranging from approximately NZD 216,000 to NZD 315,000 as well as full CME entitlement, superannuation and annual leave. We also offer an attractive relocation package.
