Governance and Assurance
Palmerston North

Massey University is looking for a highly organised, proactive Governance Advisor who will be central to supporting the day-to-day functions of the University Council and will work as part of the wider Governance and Assurance Team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity.

This position reports to the Director Governance and Assurance, and you will be the key point of contact for all Council related matters, taking a lead on all support and secretariat matters, and driving good governance practice through close working relationships with the Senior Leadership team and other key stakeholders.

You will be a natural organiser who takes the initiative, adopting a solutions-focused approach. As a team player, you will have strong relationship building skills and an ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who brings the following:

  • Previous experience in executive support or coordination roles, preferably in supporting a board
  • Outstanding problem-solving ability
  • An interest in governance and good governance practices
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office with a natural ability to learn new systems and technology
  • A high level of integrity with the ability to manage confidential information
  • A strong ability to organise and prioritise competing demands
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate needs in advance

There is opportunity for process improvement and some of this work is already underway.

This full-time permanent position is based at the University’s Manawatū campus, however part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.
