The Role

The Government Services Policy Adviser is accountable for:

  • Managing the workflow for PHARMAC’s government services correspondence, including preparing responses to Official Information Act (OIA) requests, answering Parliamentary questions, and providing advice to the Ministry of Health to inform Ministerial inquiries. 
  • Assisting with PHARMAC’s accountability reporting, including coordinating the production of the Annual Report.
  • Contributing to various pieces of work across PHARMAC that fall within the area of policy advice and analysis.
  • Working in a small team, reporting to the Policy Manager and supporting the Senior Policy Analyst on designated projects, to secure the best possible policy outcomes for PHARMAC to achieve its statutory objective.


About You

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified people who have at least one to two years previous experience in a government Ministerial services role and/or a policy role, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written communication skills, and proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. You are a motivated self-starter able to partner with key stakeholders internally and externally to achieve results.

A relevant tertiary qualification and/or comparable relevant experience is essential. A good understanding of the machinery of government and knowledge of the health sector would be advantageous.

We would be open to making an appointment at senior level for candidates with more extensive work experience in a policy setting, in addition to demonstrated capability in government services delivery.
