Job Description – Graphic Designer (WAI17277)Graphic Designer:WAI17277Where you’ll be working: Communications Team, Waiora Waikato Hospital Campus The details: Permanent, 40 hours per week (1 FTE) If you’re a talented junior/intermediate graphic designer with an eye for detail, who is practical and capable of taking on multiple functions in a busy varied workplace, this could be a great opportunity for you. About us: Waikato District Health Board (DHB) provides health services in the Waikato region to a combined population of over 400,000 people, and tertiary-level services to the midland region, with a population of over 840,000. Our people are fundamental to our success; we have a workforce of 8000 who directly reflect the diversity in our communities, providing care and support to more than 100,000 patients each year. About the role: As part of our Communications team you would work closely with our experienced graphic designer and digital content designer to provide print and digital design assistance for the DHB. We’re keen to find a team player who is happy to get stuck in to help collate and maintain design assets, distribute artwork and briefs to contracted suppliers, with the ability to support or create design of all scales and outputs. The role will include everything from improving clinical forms or presentations to injecting creativity into organisational resources and projects. You will be able to understand and respect brand guidelines, see yourself as a problem solver and be able to communicate effectively with various clients and suppliers. You will be willing to take briefs and confidently provide advice, ideas and support. The ideal person: Someone with a good level of creative design skills who understands the challenges and opportunities of working in a large complex environment. An ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and provide support and advice to services across the organisation. We want a person who has a passion for design that is both beautiful and beautifully functional. Experience and skills: Able to understand and accurately follow established brand and style guidelines Able to undertake graphic design and print-related administrative and quality control functions Experienced in graphic design software including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Powerpoint and Excel Understand both print and digital outputs Able to articulate design concepts to varied audiences Able to maintain workflows, set priorities and work to deadlines in a busy environment
