We have a newly created role, Group Risk and Assurance Manager reporting to our Chief Financial Officer leading KiwiRail’s enterprise risk management strategy and business assurance programmes. Working closely with our Group General Manager Strategy and Growth and other senior key executive stakeholders, this role develop and align the risk management framework to maintain the highest standards of risk management, assurance and compliance in support of the achievement of operational business strategies whilst understanding the strategic growth plans for the organisation. This role will provide subject matter expertise to the KiwiRail Board and Executive team on risk management, applying robust risk management methodologies in a measured, pragmatic and fit for purpose approach.

The successful individual will champion a risk management culture across the organisation, providing leadership, guidance and advice to key stakeholders promoting risk awareness and best practice, and strategically partner with senior leaders across their operational areas to build risk management strategies that have an integrated and cohesive approach across the organisation.

You will be an experienced risk management practitioner with extensive experience in developing and implementing enterprise wide risk management frameworks and methodologies across complex, multi-faceted organisations. You will have demonstrated experience at understanding organisational strategies and how to align, design, develop and bring to life business appropriate risk management strategies including associated procedures, policies, governance and controls. Included in this will be your experience in developing effective assurance programmes and adapting these in an evolving and changing environment. As a thought leader, you will be strong in building strong partnerships with Executives, key leaders and subject matter experts across the organisation, as well as external partners with excellent communication skills to positively collaborative and influence the delivery of risk management practices.
