We are looking for a Head of ICT to lead our hard working ICT Services team that provide ICT to both WelTec and Whitiriea Polytechnics.

About the role 

The Head of ICT leads the ICT Services department to deliver learner centric, timely, cost effect and secure IT systems, services and underlying infrastructure to Whitireia community Polytechnic and the Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec)

The role leads the four teams within ICT Services, ensuring that they work to meet the needs of the Whitiriea and WelTec and carries overall responsibility for ICT operational plans, initiatives and supporting budgets.

The Head of ICT will balance excellent ICT technical operational skills with supplying highly effective and credible relationship management to WelTec and Whitiriea.

Qualifications and experience 

A range of experience and qualifications is required for this role, including the following:

  • Ideally ten years managing IT infrastructure and people management
  • Ideally five years managing cloud technologies and outsourced support ‘as a service’ vendors and contracts 
  • Ideally five years extensive management of business application support, preferably include tertiary systems and/ or ERP solutions 
  • Leadership in delivery of complex business outcomes 
  • Management of large operational budget 
  • Extensive experience delivering ICT infrastructure 
  • Qualification, or suitable experience in service management, risk management and project management
  • Practical experience of leading technology teams during major incidents and/or CIMS events
  • Experience in service delivery management 
  • Exposure to academic environments
