  • Summary:

PHARMAC Health Economists assess proposals for funding of new health technologies, advising on high-value funding decisions.

With a team of seven, we’re New Zealand’s single largest health technology assessment team.  We work closely with PHARMAC’s clinical advisors and our commercial negotiators. There are also opportunities to lead strategic projects.

You may have a background in health technology assessment, epidemiology, finance, applied mathematics, economics, biomedical research, or related fields. You will help PHARMAC prioritise spending on pharmaceuticals for New Zealanders – modelling the cost-effectiveness and budgetary impact of new pharmaceuticals.

You will have excellent communication skills, to present results to other PHARMAC staff and to decision-makers, and to debate results with staff, clinicians and suppliers. We offer a supportive team environment, extensive training and professional development, and a wide variety of interesting work.

The PHARMAC website About page is a useful resource to understand more about what we do. The Our People section includes several staff profiles.
