What you will do
The Manager Health Information is a senior member of the Directorate Health Business Performance, leading the delivery of Health business intelligence across the organisation and providing health information when requested.
The Manager Health Information will be directly responsible for measuring and reporting the Defence Health Directorates performance against the Defence Health Strategy 2025 and it will contribute to the provision of accurate health information that supports well-informed business decisions across a multi-disciplinary health care environment. 

You will lead a Health Information team requiring their personnel supervision, development, work planning and coordination and day to day personnel administration. The role will also be a trusted advisor for the Director Health Business Performance, and other Defence Health leaders.
The Health Information team will provide support to key Defence Health projects which will underpin health service delivery. There will also be a strong focus on implementing the Defence Health Performance Framework.

What we need
Your leadership skills and sound knowledge of the NZ Health Sector and health information management, as well as demonstrable understanding of business intelligence and an appreciation of its importance in business performance.

  • You’ll be experienced in developing, testing and executing queries for data extraction and be skilled in information analysis; 
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to use data and analysis to inform decisions and influence others, and turn technical data and information into valuable information for non-technical users, and have a good grasp on statistical theory application (ideally within a health environment); 
  • You’ll bring experience from a customer focussed Data and Analytics role, have a good understanding of SQL, as well as analytical theories, principles and practices; 
  • To back this up, you’ll ideally have experience with health practice management systems (e.g. Profile or Titanium) and hold a tertiary qualification in Statistics, Business Information Systems, Information Management.
