Purpose and responsibilities of the role

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Health, Safety and Sustainability Advisor to join our team.

As an Advisor, you will report to the Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager and work alongside experienced people who will guide and support you along the way to drive, influence and imbed health, safety and sustainability into our organisation.

You will have a broad range of responsibilities across all areas of health, safety and sustainability.

Some of the key duties will include the following:

  • Assist in developing and implementing our health and safety management system
  • Further develop our worker participation and engagement programme
  • Assist in delivering health and safety training
  • Develop and promote our sustainability programmes

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have a collaborate approach, and be customer-focused. You will need to be able to tailor your approach to suit a variety of internal and external customers. Excellent communication skills is a must as you will be working across all of our campuses, talking with a variety of stakeholders.

Ideally, you will have the following background and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, occupational hygiene or a related field
  • A successful track record with persuading, coaching and influencing others in health and safety best practice
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organising and prioritising skills

Note that this position is expected to work across all our Wellington region campuses.
