Are you passionate about providing an amazing service for our community, within a public library setting? Then join an organisation that delights in inspiring people to explore the pathways to the world.

You will be part of the Heritage team, helping to provide a wide range of services to inspire our community of users and to readily fulfil all their information and research needs as they relate to the history of New Zealand and the Pacific, and particularly our local history. The Heritage Team are also responsible for the Ian Matheson City Archives and Manawatū Heritage, our online digital repository, and you will join them in the selection, acquisition, development, creation, curation, display, promotion, access, and delivery of content across a wide range of formats in an effective, innovative and efficient manner.

Your love of history and professional knowledge will be an advantage when working directly with our community, in person and from a distance, to make content accessible. The majority of this role will consist of working with Manawatū Heritage by supporting the growth of content through metadata creation, uploading of digital images, community engagement and content creation, and by supporting its ongoing development through identifying development opportunities and providing feedback from user testing.

Your strong interpersonal and relationship building skills will be put to good use, as you coordinate our volunteers who assist us in making our content accessible. And while a tertiary library qualification would be advantageous, we are looking for someone who can work autonomously, is self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, and is able to work effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner. Your competence with technology is also a must for dealing with the many online systems and databases that you will work with.

If this sounds like the role for you, apply today!
