What you will do

As the Human Resources Team Leader, you’ll be an experience senior advisor and member of the HR and site leadership team, responsible for providing proactive advice and counsel to both military and civilian (non-uniformed) managers on all people related matters. You’ll bring generalist HR knowledge, good practice and advice to the management of all HR issues. 

What we need

We’re looking for an experienced Senior HR Advisor/Team Leader who can hit the ground running and make a positive difference.

We want to hear from you if you have demonstrable generalist HR experience at a Senior or Business Partner level in a large multi-faceted or complex organisation with multiple customer and stakeholder expectations.

In addition to a customer portfolio, as a leader you will be responsible for effectively building, leading and developing a small and dynamic team. The vital skills required to succeed in this role are your influential leadership, management, relationship management, people skills, ability to work in a complex environment and ability to challenge and influence at a senior level whilst remaining flexible and diplomatic.

We are seeking someone with experience in ER and mediation, delivery of quality and timely HR service with a strong client focus. You will bring up to date knowledge of good practice HR methodologies, techniques and contemporary HR management trends and issues.

You’ll be adaptable, curious, and a great problem solver. Other key attributes are outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and you enjoy developing strong relationships with stakeholders, building and maintaining trusting relationships.  You will have the ability to liaise and present yourself confidently and professionally as you work across various levels of hierarchy.

HR Advisory Services (HRAS) is part of Defence Human Resources, within the HQ New Zealand Defence Force (HQ NZDF).  HRAS is focused on the delivery of strategic, high quality, timely, accurate HR management support and advisory services.  It is responsible for the development and implementation of local HR strategies and initiatives as well as advising NZDF commanders and managers, enabling them to lead their people effectively.
