What you will do
The Inventory Manager is responsible to the Ammunition Supply Chain Manager for the strategic management and maintenance of NZDF ammunition inventory functions, to support directed levels of capability and sustain deployed forces.
The principle output of the position is to optimise the delivery of quality, timely and cost effective ammunition in order to sustain the NZDF. To produce inventory management and inventory budget reports and to engage with units across the NZDF to influence behaviours and attitudes to improve the efficient acquisition, storage and disposal of munitions.
What we need
We are looking for an inventory specialist who will bring essential and extensive experience in inventory management, SAP, MRP, material master data and purchasing. You will live on SAP in this role so your ability to work with the system, analyse and provide accurate data must be exceptional.
Other components of the role are dealing with queries around current supply levels, providing advice and information to assist Navy, Army and Airforce sub-organisations perform ammunition inventory functions, managing the NZDF inventory budget functions, controlling the acquisition of ammunition which can include the establishment of standing offer contracts, open competitive tenders, sole source tender and foreign military sales.
You will have strong financial management skills and a good understanding of accounting and corporate finance which compliments your strong knowledge of current inventory management and supply chain business practices. In depth understanding of materiel management including provisioning and procurement systems and proven research skills with an ability to critically analyse information and make effective recommendations are essential.
There is a big focus on relationship management within this role not only with your three direct reports but also being able to develop effective networks with key stakeholders, customers and external agencies.
A knowledge of military integrated logistics support concepts and practises would be advantageous.
