Audit & Compliance is a specialised unit of the Ministry of Health responsible for Counter-fraud, and Audit and Risk Management activities in relation to over $10 billion of annual payments to health providers.


We are seeking an experienced Investigator to join our Christchurch based investigative team on a 12-month Fixed Term Agreement, due to a staff member taking up an internal secondment opportunity.  The investigations group has staff located in Auckland, and Christchurch.     


As an Investigator you will be responsible for professionally, objectively and impartially conducting investigations, case management, and issues-based audits within the current audit protocols of Audit and Compliance.  Some domestic travel is required as part of this role


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Established investigation background in a regulatory, compliance, or enforcement  environment
  • History of self-discipline, and requiring minimal supervision
  • Ability to identify and prioritise issues that may impact on investigations/audits
  • Identify and apply appropriate legislation, and significant experience in investigative interviewing methodology
  • Presenting preparing and collecting evidence in the preparation of formal correspondence for criminal courts, professional medical bodies, and tribunal hearings


It would be advantageous to have Police Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) experience or similar investigative training but not essential.


Eligibility Requirements:

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 5 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
