About the role.

We have a permanent position available for an IP Data Specialist to join MBIE’s Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ).


You will a key role in improving IPONZ data, supporting IPONZ’s capabilities for data exchange and open data, and ensuring IPONZ conforms to international standards and agreements with respect to intellectual property (IP) data.


You will also contribute the operation of the Business Systems Team to support the systems that underpin IPONZ’s services and provide critical input into projects and initiatives that aim to improve IPONZ’s services and information, including the automation of processes.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in the application of data standards, open data and metadata; and the use of related technologies including SQL, XML, XML schemas and transformations, JSON, web services.
  • An understanding of master data management and data quality concepts and strategies. 
  • A familiarity with, the key technical architectures, solutions, software platforms and toolsets used within IPONZ
  • An ability to work collaborative within teams and build and maintain effective networks within an organisation.
  • A highly developed analytical and conceptual thinking ability.
  • A legal right to live and work in NZ.
