Technology Directorate delivers technology for Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB), New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) and the wider security and intelligence sector. Our purpose is to ensure that mission requirements are met today and in the future – realising positive outcomes for New Zealand.

As the IT Project Manager you will make a real difference by supporting our technology staff in all aspects of the successful management and delivery of technology projects. We are looking for individuals who have a good understanding of IT infrastructure and have managed end to end, medium to enormous scale projects covering infrastructure and networking. This role includes –

  • Managing business change through an approved project management methodology
  • Ensuring all project outputs are delivered by time-sensitive deadlines
  • Monitoring project budgets and risks
  • Working on complex projects, juggling competing needs and priorities
  • Producing quality documentation without a team of BA’s behind you

You will be engaging with customers and stakeholders on a regular basis during the lifecycle of projects and ensuring their information needs are met. The difference here is that you are not working with an outsourcer, you will see the outcomes and work with the people delivering this from start to finish.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
