What you will do

In this role you will provide level 1 and 2 ICT support to the Unit across the breadth of the enterprise environment. You will also support network enabled mission command within the Unit by maintaining essential ICT services and support the implementation of new ICT services.

The IT Service Desk Administrator will maintain the health of the ICT systems by ensuring level 1 and 2 faults which hinder the day to day operations of the Unit are owned and managed through to resolution while manging the priority and the expectation of the customer.

What we need

We are seeking a person with strong helpdesk, service desk or operation centre experience. You will have a strong understanding of security infrastructure methodologies, standards and their application and promotion and a strong understanding of ITIL. Your prior experience has ensured you have a clear picture of the Cyber threat environment and incident management.

In terms of specific technical ability we need:

  • Demonstrated practical experience in INFOSEC, including in user requirements generation and systems specification;
  • Certification in Security or Network infrastructure. Support and management of Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) based systems (or demonstrated industry experience);
  • Certification in Linux or Microsoft products;
  • Certification in VMware.

There is an important stakeholder management aspect to this role where you will be required to maintain effective working relationships with members of other government agencies both national and international and the wider NZDF and FVEY’s community. You will also work with users, architects, designers, engineers and support staff.

Please note: There is requirement for travel in this role and an on call component. You need to have a full class 1 driver licence.
