It is responsible for some of the most important issues facing New Zealand – how to look after our unique environment in a way that benefits current and future generations.


We are seeking 2x Permissions Advisors to join our busy team based in Hamilton. This is a unique opportunity to provide quality advice and process applications related to commercial and recreational use of conservation land, as well as indigenous and endemic wildlife across New Zealand.

You will work closely with other DOC staff, Treaty partners and stakeholders to ensure cross-organisational teams are successful with the decision making of concessions applications.


The ideal applicant will:

  • Have Policy, Science or Legal experience
  • Be committed to working in partnership with whānau, hapū, iwi and tangata whenua
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and organisation skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Have an interest in collating and providing advice in policy, science, law, or planning

Both positions are full time, permanent, working 40 hours per week. These roles are based in Hamilton. Salary will be based on skills and experience.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
