The Future Leaders programme is run by Inspiring Stories with connections to the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs, local Councils, not for profits, iwi services, businesses, and communities. The programme supports young people aged 16-25 in rural and provincial New Zealand to build their entrepreneurship and leadership capability – including teamwork and community engagement skills.The programme has a big focus on project-based learning, supporting young people to turn their ideas into reality, and make a difference in their community. In 2021, the programme runs in Ōpōtiki, Kawerau, Whakatāne, Kaikohe, Whangarei, and Greymouth.The programme kicked off in 2021 with Coach training in February and the Future Leaders starting the programme in March. Due to personal circumstances our initial coach for 2021 has stepped back from the role, so we are looking for a new, amazing leader to support the Rangatahi engaged in the programme in Kawerau.As the Kawerau Future Leaders Coach, you will work part time with support from the Programme Manager (based in Wellington) to coordinate and deliver the programme supporting young people in Kawerau. This will include providing one-on-one coaching each month, scheduled meetings with the local Mayor or relevant councillor, coordinating and delivering local workshops and events, working with the two other Bay of Plenty coaches to coordinate regional catch-ups, attending 2021 Festival for the Future in Wellington (30 July-1 August 2021) and the National Awards at the start of September 2021 in Wellington.As a new coach, the Programme Manager, our amazing five coaches, and the rest of the Wellington staff will support you in your new role.
