The Laboratory Workflow Administrator (LWA) manages the delivery of the administrative, technical and functional needs of the systems and processes that underpin MPI’s laboratory processes. 

 

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the Role

  • Know your customers: Laboratory scientists, key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) team to achieve business goals
  • Identify opportunities to innovate, to change paradigms, to reduce workloads – and help to deliver these.
  • Active involvement as a key team member in this significant and high priority project (using an Agile approach), delivering change into MPI’s operational use of LIMS
  • Provide administrative and operational support for LIMS and associated systems 
  • Provide training, expert knowledge and testing capabilities for LIMS and other systems
  • Involvement in times of biosecurity response: work with the laboratories and response teams to provide additional assistance
  • Undertake business analysis of requirements and processes

These Laboratories – and the supporting LIMS systems – are mission-critical in supporting New Zealand’s biosecurity requirements. No two days are the same.

This is an opportunity to put your previous LIMS systems experience, laboratory experience and/or information technology into action. An appropriate degree and knowledge of biology, plant pests and diseases will be real advantages!

We require motivated people with strong customer focus, excellent communication skills both written and oral, and fantastic computer skills. If you’re a cheerful, outgoing and can-do person, this is a real opportunity!
