In this newly created role you will provide functional and thought leadership for MFAT’s strategic planning and performance.
Mō mātou – About us
Our people work in New Zealand and around the world to build a safer, more prosperous and more sustainable future for New Zealanders. By building connections with and influencing other countries, we advance New Zealand’s interests, project New Zealand values and secure the outcomes that matter to New Zealand. We pursue the Government’s international priorities and provide advice on the implications of what is happening in the world.
About the role
This position plays a critical part in helping the Ministry organise itself to deliver the best results for New Zealanders in the disrupted and uncertain international environment we operate in.
You will lead the development and delivery of the Ministry’s enterprise planning and performance functions. You will maintain a fit for purpose strategic framework, provide a planning system that turns strategy into coherent action across the Ministry, and deliver a performance system that enables the Ministry to assess the difference it makes for New Zealand.
You will be responsible for supporting the Ministry’s senior leaders to deliver the strategic framework and for providing information and insights to the Ministry’s governance bodies that drive and sustain performance.
Who are we looking for?
You will have the ability to apply your well-developed enterprise-level strategic planning and performance skills to MFAT’s context. Experience and understanding of New Zealand’s international engagement is therefore an advantage. You will also have a sound understanding of New Zealand public sector planning and accountability approaches.
You will enjoy the responsibility of leading an important area of work and relish the challenge of developing it further. You will be comfortable working with senior leaders, and enjoy collaborating with colleagues and sharing your expertise. You will be committed to delivering strong performance from your own team and developing the skills of team members.
