Legal and Research Officer, Environment Court, Auckland

We are currently seeking a lawyer to join our team to provide legal support to our Auckland-based Environment Judges. If you have a passion for Environmental Law, initiative and a keen eye for detail, this is an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of Environmental Justice in New Zealand.
You will work closely with the Environment Judges and Commissioners, together with other colleagues, registry staff and management.
You will be part of a tight-knit team and your day-to-day work in support to the Judges will be varied, busy and challenging. It will include assistance in the drafting of decisions and minutes, preparation of legal opinions and other support. That will encompass the range of the Court’s jurisdiction, primarily in relation to the Resource Management Act 1991 but including the Public Works Act 1981, and land valuation and rating powers legislation. It will include related research and proof reading.
