The role is busy and interesting, and involves a wide range of contractual matters.Kōrero mō te tūranga -About the role As Development Legal Counsel you will play a key role in the delivery of the New Zealand Aid Programme. You will be called on to provide pragmatic legal and associated commercial advice on all aspects of aid programme transactions. You will:provide legal and commercial advice in connection with the conceptualisation, development, writing, negotiation and authorisation of transaction documents. The other parties will include private-sector suppliers, foreign governments and their entities, multi-laterals, NGOs and other New Zealand government agencies and entitiesprovide legal and commercial advice in connection with the implementation and management of development programme activities as requestedsupport strategic and tactical thinking about optimal ways and means of successfully achieving particular transactions, activities, outputs and outcomes in the New Zealand Aid ProgrammeThe appointment range for this role is $95,555.00 to $112,418.00 (for a full time role) negotiable depending on experience.Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? – Who are we looking for?At least 5-years post-admission legal experience in relevant New Zealand law transactions (or materially similar transactions)Significant experience at a senior level in advising upon, designing, drafting and negotiating commercial contract documentationDesirably, material experience at a senior level in advising upon construction contracts using the NZS suite of contractsGood understanding of intellectual property rights protection and contractingWork in and from MFAT’s Wellington CBD officeNgā hua o te mahi i te Manatū Aorere – Why MFAT?
