We’re aiming high and for us success is when we’re out there providing advice and support to Māori businesses, as well as developing and delivering innovation skills programmes and activities to grow Māori business investment in innovation. That’s the role our team will play in the success and growth of our people in innovation. But we’re not there yet. There are some things we need to achieve in order to reach our goals and this is where you come in.

Our Māori Economy team is a powerhouse within Callaghan Innovation, and we have an amazing journey ahead of us. In order to partner with high potential, ambitious Māori entities, we need to have our own house in order. Right now, we’re focussed on growing cultural capability in our own backyard first; Callaghan Innovation. This means that we’ll have a strong foundation as an organisation to be more effective with our target customers and the wider Māori Economy at large.

We want you to grow with us and help the Callaghan Innovation whanau grow.

Our journey starts with:

  • developing internal cultural capability activities and initiatives
  • exploring the unique needs of our high potential Māori entities
  • developing fit for purpose products and services alongside our target customers and the wider Callaghan Innovation expertise.

The next phase of our journey will involve increasing our reach and impact. Accelerating the commercialisation of ideas and partnering with Māori entities to realise their commercial potential through Research and Development, and technology, therefore fuelling better social and economic outcomes for their people, and a better Aotearoa.
