Auckland, being one of the world’s most multicultural cities in the world, has a lot to offer to professionals looking to make their mark on the world and have a global impact!Summary: Kara is looking for an experienced data scientist with a thorough understanding of machine learning as well as a strong foundation in mathematics. For this role, we are seeking an individual with a proven track record in software development as well.You must have deep technical experience working with technologies related to artificial intelligence, machine learning and/or deep learning. A strong mathematics and statistics background is preferred in addition to experience building complex machine learning models. As a contract software developer, you will work independently in support of the CTO to develop various parts of the platform and software systems. Your work will be self-driven, and being part of a team, you will need to be agile enough to work on many tasks. Your work may also involve your collaboration with 3D artist specialists. As such you will have a strong technical background and advanced knowledge and experience with object-oriented programming, software architectures, and common collaboration tools.This is a fixed-term full-time role for 3 months, with opportunity to turn into a permanent full-time position. You will ideally be working at our beautiful open-space co-working office in Auckland CBD, or alternatively can work remotely. We offer competitive rates, depending on your skills and experience.Responsibilities: · Work at the direction of CTO to create machine learned models for various parts of our platform.· Work alongside engineering team to develop workable and usable solutions.· Automate the analysis and cleaning of relevant datasets.· Develop software systems independently, and build on top of previously written code in Python and C++· Implement, troubleshoot, and debug software systems.· Automating internal processes with scripts as needed.· Help with the overall architecture of certain systems.· Work under guidelines of consultants to ensure best outcomes.· Assist with improving development pipelines and processes, and any other related tasks.Key Requirements: · Strong mathematics and data science skills, understanding of statistics, neural networks· 3+ years of experience in relevant fields· Strong C++ & Python programming skills· Experience developing and optimizing ML models for multivariate regressions· Strong problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of software design patterns.· Bring innovation and resolution to technical problems and challenges.· A passion and love for making a change in the world!· Excellent written and verbal communication skillsBonuses: · Experience implementing state of the art ML algorithms from academic research· Strong knowledge of kinematics and kinematics algorithms· Knowledge or some experience working with game engines or 3D software (e.g. Maya / 3Ds Max).· Agile development using Atlassian products.· Docker, AWS, CI/CD toolsApplication Process: All candidates must provide a CV for consideration of this role.
