The Management Accountant role is a key role in Nelson Marlborough Health’s (NMH’s) Financial Operations team. The position reports to the Manager, Financial Operations and will be part of a large team focusing on providing timely, reliable financial information to the NMH Managers and meeting the needs of the organisation.

The role is diverse and challenging, continually looking for efficiencies in systems, processes and reports and providing customer-focussed value to NMH Managers. Relationship management, risk analysis, variance reporting, budgeting and forecasting are also important elements to the position.

You will be a self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables and, under the guidance of the Manager, Financial Operations you will produce high quality outputs within required timeframes.

Your experience and qualifications should include:

  • Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or other relevant business discipline
  • Chartered Accountant (member of NZICA/CCANZ) or professional membership of professional accounting body
  • Extensive experience (four plus years) in a finance/accounting or public sector financial management field
  • Keen interest in systems and increasing efficiencies is important
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering financial/accounting services in a large and complex organisation
  • The ability to analyse complex issues, provide solutions and communicate these clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Previous health sector experience would be desirable
