What you will do:

The Manager Engagement role will lead a team of relationship and engagement specialists responsible for strengthening the Ministry’s regional connections across Aotearoa New Zealand. 

You are a highly-experienced stakeholder manager with a strong understanding of how to build and sustain long-term relationships at a local, regional and national level.  You understand the importance of taking a strategic approach to engagement and ensuring that the right systems, processes and capability are in place to get results.

You will lead a team of regional relationship managers responsible for engagement with iwi/Māori, local authorities and stakeholders within their regions. They help ensure MfE’s policy development is informed by what is happening on-the-ground and the needs and aspirations of our Treaty partners, stakeholders and customers and well understood.  

You are known for getting the best out of people and building high-performing teams. You will play a significant role in ensuring the team delivers top quality advice, services and insights to our customers.   Your collaborative working style enables you to foster key working relationships at various levels aided by your ability to always think about the bigger picture.

What you will bring:

You are dynamic and passionate with a reputation for excellence and delivery together with strong political nous. Your creative flair will ensure that MfE continues to stay on the cutting edge of what is possible. You will have:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years experience in engagement and relationship management  
  • Experience in managing an engagement and relationship management function
  • Strong people leadership skills including performance management and succession planning
  • A talent for issues management and problem solving
  • An understanding of Te Ao Maori
  • Proven financial management and knowledge of planning and budget processes
  • Experience in working within tangata whenua organisations and/or local authorities

The salary range for the role is from $134,477.00 – $181,940.00
