To support their work, we have a newly created role for a Manager IT Risk and Security.


This is a position that would be ideal for an ambitious & experienced senior, dedicated to IT Security & Risk, who is looking to further build upon their people management and technical leadership skills. You’ll be reporting  to Manager Strategy, Architecture and Security, will form part of our reshaped wider leadership team as they work together to take more collective responsibility and network across the wider LINZ business to achieve our outcomes.


Drawing on your strong management skills, you’ll apply your technical nous to ensure that all reviews relating to IT security and risks across LINZ are undertaken and enable high-quality and reliable infrastructure services to be delivered to a high standard, on time.


With your passion for and previous experience in a Senior IT Security and Risk (or similar) role, this is an intellectually stimulating opportunity to take advantage of the autonomy we’re offering you and apply not only your technical skills, but also your risk management and relationship building skills.


You’ll have an excellent opening to apply your strong analytical skills as our team looks to you to formulate the best strategies to “future-proof” the work we do. Tying into this stream of work, you’ll work with our professional, highly specialised team to ensure our LINZ IT security and disaster recovery strategies are optimised to ensure reliable and resilient infrastructure services will be delivered. 


Being a permanent role, this position gives you an excellent opportunity to establish yourself as a key influencer. You’ll have the chance to actively impact the way New Zealanders will engage with LINZ in the future as you work to build a sense of common purpose, engagement and commitment within your team and right across our national presence. You’ll be supported by your Manager to develop your team’s capability through coaching, mentoring, development planning and will look to actively share your knowledge and expertise with your people.


If you feel you can demonstrate the below capabilities and have an interest in joining our team in this exciting position, we’d love to hear from you:


  • IT Security qualification (e.g. CISSP, CISM, GIAC or GSec) or relevant experience
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of security practises in Government and actively maintains networks to keep abreast with trends
  • Detailed knowledge of Risk Management frameworks
  • Proven relationship management experience
  • No criminal convictions and preference for a Government security clearance
