Professional Development Group delivers learning and capability building initiatives across our front-line teams to help grow the professional quality and practice leadership capability throughout the organisation.

About the role – Mō te tūnga

The Manager Learning Delivery (Regional Learning portfolio) leads a team of around 11 learning professionals to facilitate the development and delivery of capability building solutions for the organisation. This role currently holds the portfolio of managing our team who are based in the regions. The team’s focus is on identifying capability needs for sites and teams aligned to our organisational goals, and on brokering or delivering learning support to meet those needs. Working closely in partnership with operational managers across the regions, you will deliver locally responsive solutions as well as supporting nationally agreed programmes.

You will also work closely with the Manager Learning Delivery (National Programmes portfolio) to ensure a one team approach to provide national consistency and service excellence. As a member of the Professional Development Leadership Team you will contribute to the leadership of the group as a whole including strategic planning and budget management.

We are looking for an experienced leader who is keen to make a difference, drive improvement and is creative, flexible and responsive. You will be a skilled manager, preferably with experience leading geographically dispersed teams, and have credibility in using adult learning theory to build staff capability. You will be someone who can set the direction, and then be ok about figuring out how best to travel as we go.

What you will bring – Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu:

  • Previous experience as a people leader and manager
  • Knowledge and experience facilitating learning solutions in an adult learning environment. An understanding of mātauranga Māori learning would be an advantage
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders
  • Comfort managing through ambiguity
  • Ability to manage a team of specialised individuals who are geographically distributed
  • An excellent track record in delivering successful learning and development projects and supporting major organisational change
  • An ability to demonstrate a positive cultural identity, belonging and connection for tamariki Māori reflecting their inherent right to their culture and whakapapa
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience is required
