About the Role│Kōrero mō te tūranga

Much like the sector we support, Te Uru Rākau is growing and we have a new opportunity to join our team as Manager Planning & Business Support. In this highly visible role you will lead the business planning for the business as well as provide performance reporting and support services across Te Uru Rākau.  Your leadership of the team will be key to ensuring that Te Uru Rākau is connected, resourced and all heading in the same direction to achieve the government’s forestry goals and ultimately the sustainable low carbon future all New Zealander’s are striving to achieve.

You will lead a team that provides core services that support the smooth running of the business unit – Project Management to support delivery of business initiatives; general reception and Administrative Support to enable efficient delivery of our business activities; Event Management to support the delivery of internal and external events; and Planning & Reporting to optimise performance and service quality.  To help define our vision and direction and translate strategy into operational reality you will collaborate with the leadership team and connect across functional teams.  You will ensure Te Uru Rākau meets its reporting requirements internally to MPI’s senior leadership team and to central government, our Ministers and to the public.

Core responsibilities for the role: 

  • Manage all resources and outcomes within the function including – Health & Safety, recruitment, financial, planning, monitoring and measuring and reporting.
  • Develop and implement reporting processes for the business unit.
  • Initiate and maintain key linkages with MPI Corporate Services and Compliance & Governance business units.
  • Manage people and resources and ensure delivery to meet timelines.

To be successful in this role, you will also offer:

  • Experience operating as a manager in a government agency or large complex organisation
  • High level skill in business planning and the application of planning methodologies
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Proven risk management skills and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and problem solve
  • High level stakeholder management and relationship building across a broad range of stakeholders

Salary range for this role is $126,977 to midpoint $149,385 depending on skills and experience.
