This is senior leadership position and part of our Service Quality and Assurance leadership team.MIQ has been set up as critical part of our border measures to protect Aotearoa New Zealand from COVID-19. What unites our people is our passion for keeping all New Zealanders safe during an unprecedented global pandemic.The Service Quality and Assurance branch helps ensure the quality of business operations across the Managed Isolation & Quarantine (MIQ) system remains high by guiding and supporting business readiness and consistency of operations. This role is responsible for the provision of independent risk, assurance and audit advice and will focus on building and enhancing the overall capability of the MIQ Group through a pragmatic operational coaching and fixing lens that enhances the way the that MIQ delivers its services. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join what is a high performing team with significant influence that plays a critical role in ensuring our border measures keep COVID-19 out of New Zealand. To be successful in this role, you will have: Extensive experience at a senior level in either risk and assurance management, capability, service improvement or operational service delivery environmentsA sound understanding of risk management and assurance, capability, service improvement and operational excellence frameworks and methodologies to reflect the breadth of the role Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work and facilitate across the business and take others on board as their skills are increased Sound working knowledge and understanding of corporate management disciplines and techniques. Sound working knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government and relevant operating procedures and policies that apply within the state sectorGood understanding of organisational and management theory and practice, and experience in change management High level of political nous and awareness Experience in developing and maintaining an environment focused on continuous improvement to enhance organisational performance About MIQ MIQ became an MBIE business group on 13 July 2020. ​ The purpose of managed isolation is to ensure COVID-19 is not spread to the community while enabling Kiwis and other exempted travellers to return to New Zealand safely. A key enabler of this work is collaboration across government.Over 150,000 people have passed through MIQ since New Zealand stood up its response to COVID-19. We operate thirty-two managed isolation facilities in five regions.A range of agencies including the Ministry of Health, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, New Zealand Police, Customs, New Zealand Defence Force, Aviation Security Service and other business groups in MBIE are working together to deliver an enduring MIQ system.
