This is a great role for someone looking to combine strategic thinking skills with your sound knowledge of data and research practices.  You will be  developing systems and processes for the generation of quality research, evaluation, analytics and data products and services that will be used to inform policy and business decisions and direction.

About the role

Evidence and Insights is MBIE’s centralised analytical unit supporting decision making across MBIE’s many subject areas.  We have around 80 data and analysis specialists and are on a mission to become a highly valued evidence centre for MBIE.  The Strategy and Stewardship team is a key pillar of our operating model, and the manager of this team plays a vital role to helping us build the systems and strategy do our best work. They are passionate about developing high performing branch wide systems and processes so we can deliver quality products that our stakeholders and the public treasure. 

Skills and experience required:

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • A keen interest in building and continuously improving a large government evidence centre
  • Strong system and strategic thinking nous
  • Keen interest in how things interrelate to achieve important goals
  • A track record of great results managing Research, Evaluation or Analytics teams
  • Good understanding of the government data systems and expectations
  • A strong drive for effective stakeholder engagement
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • The legal right to live and work in NZ

About the team:

The Strategy and Stewardship team of seven is made up of five roles requiring various types of research, evaluation and analytical skills, a Programme Coordinator and the branch’s Senior Business Advisor.
