The Technical Services team provide staff with high quality guidance to enable consistent and robust decision making. They help to improve the accuracy of cover, entitlement and rehabilitation decisions within ACC by providing advice on legislation, regulations, policy and case law interpretation.

The role reports to the Head of Operations Services and is responsible for leading the Technical Services team across multiple sites. As a member of the Operations Services Leadership team collectively leading a unit of over 200 staff across New Zealand, you can expect to work in a supportive and highly collaborative environment where there is a genuine commitment to develop our capability and improve operational service delivery for our customers.

What you will need to be successful in the role:

  • Experience leading a specialist or policy function, preferably in a large complex environment
  • A flexible and collaborative leadership style to meet the needs of different situations and stakeholders
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Business experience including operational management, financial management
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills
  • An interest in public sector policy development
  • A team player with continuous improvement mindset
  • A great attitude and customer service focus
