The Manager, Workforce Strategy and Policy, is responsible for leading the development, implementation and management of an agile, cohesive workforce strategy, associated action plan and monitoring framework that drives and delivers on the Health Workforce strategic investments in education, training, workforce development and innovation.
As part of the Health Workforce Directorate, we are stewards of the health workforce and we work in partnership across the health system to ensure that there is a diverse workforce pipeline that will provide the health workforce New Zealand needs now and in the future; and that the employment environment is both sustainable and adaptable to new and evolving models of care.
The role of Manager Workforce Strategy & Policy is responsible for a team of eight professionals made up of Policy Analysts, Senior Advisors and a Research Advisor. You will lead your team to create policy that shapes the health workforce of New Zealand, focusing on a set of strategic opportunities identified by the sector. We are a new directorate so the opportunities for what you can achieve in this role are huge.
To be successful in this role you’ll be able to demonstrate your experience leading the development of policy and strategy, ideally across a sector or multiple organisations. You’ll be able to tell us about how you’ve debeloped a work programme and led a team to deliver against this. As an expert in public policy, you understand the machinery of government and know how to get things done. You’re comfortable carving your own path and are a leader that p[eople want to work for.
