The purpose of this position is two-fold. Firstly, it is to bring a Māori lens to how we help our clients solve their complex challenges. Secondly, it is to help support our own organisation to better understand Te Ao Māori and how it is both similar to and different from mainstream business and organisations.
The Māori Sector Driver will work closely with the Māori National Industry Leader to determine and implement the sector strategy plans and goals. These will include responsibility for the successful management of the sector account plans, thought leadership, KPMG’s internal cultural competence development, balanced with client delivery.
This role will take a strong interest in staying up to date with what is happening in the Māori sector and wider market (through research, data, market connections) to identify insights of value to our clients. They will work with peers who serve other sectors to share insights and practice in the spirit of meaningful collaboration. In particular, there will be a need to work closely with the Agribusiness, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and Government sectors.

Your typical day asMāori Sector Driver will see you:
Act as a constructive go-to sector expert to coach, develop and support staff in the delivery of services so that KPMG can meet its obligations to clients
Be responsible for sector reporting and ensuring the integrity of the underlying data and fit for decision making reporting
Support Client Lead Partner’s in managing sector relationships while developing or extending new and existing relationships across the Maori sector
Advising Māori Sector clients and ensuring those clients have access to the support required to fulfil their business aims and objectives.
Be client or user centric in your approach so you are better positioned to understand their needs and work within KPMG to shape approaches to resolving client matters to their satisfaction
Growing the number of clients in the sector that we serve
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industry professional, with an existing, relevant and strong personal network. You will have the gravitas to build and maintain strong working relationships with board members, key C-suite and senior management, across the iwi tribal and commercial entities, trust and incorporations and other Māori entities and within KPMG.
We’re looking for someone who has:
8+ years’ experience and relevant qualifications relevant to your specific area of practice and a proven track record in delivering successful business development outcomes
Strong network with Māori businesses and organisations throughout Aotearoa and be confident working with Māori clients and in Māori settings
Excellent communication skills
A solution oriented and committed to continuous improvement of self, systems and processes in pursuit of personal and business outcomes
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and is a strategic and innovative thinker
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
