Waikato Hospital is a tertiary facility and we haveover three and a half thousand births per year. As well as caring for women inthe Waikato we are also the tertiary hospital for the Midland region for womenrequiring complex care.
We have an energetic team of midwife managers andmedical staff, as well as a supportive team of midwifery leaders who help yourtransition to a new place of work.
This is a place that you can start consolidating yourmidwifery education with a planned, sustainable level of support behind you –our educators, mentor midwives, midwife managers and midwifery leaders are allready to help and encourage you as much as we can. We have a great MFYPprogramme in place to make the transition from competent newly registeredmidwife to confident midwife as easy as possible.
You will rotate around all areas of the service(delivery suite and our ante and post-natal inpatients) gaining skills incaring for women with complexities in this amazing tertiary unit we have. Thereis dedicated education days provided just for new graduates and support on thefloor from the many
skilled midwives we have that will mentor you in eacharea.
We are one of the largest hospitals on one campus inthe Southern Hemisphere… but we are also a close-knit community with greatstaff support.
